Hoa Lu was chosen as the first capital of the centralized feudal state when Dinh Bo Linh ascended the throne in 968… Today, the vestiges of Hoa Lu Ancient Capital are located in Truong Yen commune, Hoa Lu district, Ninh Binh province, nearly 100 km south of Hanoi capital. Dancing Cave is shaped like a large upside down bell, about 800m2 wide. From the foot of the mountain, you can easily see the white stone steps leading to the top of the mountain. There are a total of 486 steps connected together, forming a miniature version of the Great Wall. Both sides of the stairs are elaborately decorated with dragon or phoenix images carved on stone in the artistic style of the Tran Dynasty, very sharp and beautiful.
